Why were those 12 constellations chosen to represent the signs fo the zodiac?

What does the zodiac have to do with the seasons?|||The zodiac are the constellations the Sun appears to pass through from the Earth during the course of the year (also known as the ecliptic). But there are 13 constellations in the ecliptic, not 12.|||The constellations are those though which Sun,Moon and planets appears to move.

We use solar calenders and the position of Sun in Zodiac has definite connection with the seasons.

When the Earth moves around Sun, we see the Sun in different constellations. So it can indicate the seasons.Really the seasons are due to inclination of Earths Axis and its angle of incident sunlight.|||2000+ years ago when the zodiac was developed, people saw patterns in the stars in the night sky and made constellations out of them. Throughout the year as the Earth moves, the constellations move to different places in the sky and can even disappear for a while. So a specific time of year being associated with a specific zodiac sign meant that the sun passes through the place in the sky where that constellation appears at night.

Btw most people don't realize that the zodiac is all out of alignment now compared to when it was originally defined. See this article for more: http://www.livescience.com/strangenews/y鈥?/a>
